And then there was light...

illuminate
ɪˈl(j)uːmɪneɪt/
verb: light up
synonyms:
light, light up, throw light on, cast light upon, brighten, make brighter,shine on, flood with light, floodlight, irradiate;

And this is exactly what artist Scott Baker is planning to do at Griffith Pioneer Park Museum on the nights of the 11th and the 12th of June within his illuminating workshop. The Melbourne based artist will demonstrate video projection-mapping techniques while the recently created sculptures of Griffith International Sculpture Symposium will act as canvases for his video animations.

“Scott will be sharing his experience in projection-mapping as well as detailing the creative processes involved in producing the visuals that will be mapped onto the gorgeous granite sculptures.” said curator Jason Richardson who also praised Bakers astounding audio visual project Abre Ojos which is an exploration of synthetic music along with geometric animations and extreme audio frequencies and has been a international success and can be found on http://abreojos.net/

The workshops will run from 5-8pm on Saturday and Sunday nights, 11-12 June and will include setting up projectors, creating animations and introductory lessons for the software used to create and map video projections.
“On each night we’ll be mapping video animations to the sculptures and recording the results. We plan to allow workshop participants to gain experience in projection-mapping software, with a number of computers and projectors available to ensure everyone can gain hands-on experience.” promises Jason Richardson.

Those interested in attending the workshops should register with Jason Richardson by emailing Jason.Richardson@griffith.nsw.gov.au or phoning 0455 553 834.

Original Worx

Original Worx” – that’s what the local artists Ben Ceccato and Ali Ratcliff believed when they first started working together and this Thursday and Friday night they will prove it to you. From 7:30 pm the air of Griffith Regional Theatre will be filled with music that originated right here in the Riverina.

“Choices for the community to see cover bands are not in short supply. But to see musical ideas that have been spawned in this community are few and far between. And we are ready to give to the community of Griffith an energetic performance of songs. It's going to be memorable.” promise the two local artists who have written everything from the guitar riffs to the melodies performed on the night with hints of genres spanning rock, folk, blues, funk and even a bit of good ol' country.

Tickets are available at Griffith Regional Theatre and are between 20 and 35 $

ENJOY!

There is a new kid on the block

“Creative, enthusiastic and skilled – That’s what we were looking for in our new Projects and Communications Officer and I believe that’s what we got. Miriam has a background in journalism and event management, a keen eye for photography, videography and design and will be a great asset for Western Riverina Arts and our future projects.”

(Derek Motion, RADO, Western Riverina Arts)

Dear Followers, fellow Art Lovers and Artists,

I would like to take the opportunity and introduce the new kid on the block which would be…well ME! So lets start with the basics, shall we: My name is Miriam Rystedt, I am 33 years young, married, mother to a beautiful baby boy and I was born and raised on the other side of the world in Germany. I came to Australia to take some time off from my job as a journalist, write a book while traveling and simply fell in love with this country, which explains why I am still here six years later and now call Griffith my hometown.

I am a professionally trained journalist with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in media, politics and sociology and I am looking forward to combine my passion for arts with my enthusiasm for communication and help Western Riverina Arts with their developmental and promotional work and the aim to sustain the Riverina’s rich and diverse culture by offering a helping hand for artists, promoting cultural events and bringing a variety of fine art to our region.

I have a head full of new and exciting ideas and my personal mission will be to create, promote and inspire, so let the journey begin.

Please don't hesitate to contact me on 0412 554 631 or comms@westrivarts.com.au

Cheers Miriam Rystedt
